Colorectal and General Surgeon

Dr Shanthan Ganesh MBBS, BSc(med), FRACS, MMIS, has been caring for his patients for over a decade. He is dedicated to providing surgical expertise in the most minimally invasive manner, to ensure recovery is swift and outcomes are maximized. He graduated from Medicine at the University of New South Wales Sydney in 2001, and completed his General Surgery training at Nepean and Westmead Hospital, Sydney, obtaining his FRACS in 2009. He further sub-specialised in Colorectal Surgery under the auspices of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ). This included a 2-year fellowship in Colorectal Surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Adelaide, and The Austin Hospital in Melbourne. Having enjoyed their time in Adelaide immensely, he and his family decided to call South Australia home. He has since obtained further higher education with a Masters in Minimally Invasive Surgery through the University of Adelaide. Today he is committed to ensuring other future doctors have similar ongoing educational opportunity. He is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Adelaide and is actively involved in the teaching of medical students at both the Adelaide and Flinders Universities. He is also a Surgical Supervisor of General Surgical Registrars at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon.

When not operating or consulting, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, going to the gym and taking his two groodles for walks. He was a Gold medalist at the 1995 Australian University Games representing the University of New South Wales in Cricket. These days he enjoys being a spectator.
